First Nightmare

This game is more of an experimental project than a complete game.

After procrastinating for an eternity, I decided to just create something. Literally no plan, other than it'll be a horror game. In the middle of making the game, I realized this was a horrible idea. I had a slight idea of how the game would start, but not where it would go or how it would end. I had a moment of "I don't want to make this anymore", specifically while making the guest room. My next project will most likely be another horror game, but with a lot more planning.

I wanted to focus on lighting with this project, so I watched a few videos on lighting in general. I really wanted to just start making the game, so I decided that a few videos was enough. It definitely wasn't. I did learn more about lighting than I did before, but it wasn't enough. There's several lighting issues in the game, especially with the doors, that I have no idea how to fix. I'll be watching way more lighting videos, and tutorials in general, before making my next game for sure.

In the end, I'm still glad I made another "complete" game. I have so many unfinished projects that I tossed away, so anything like this is improvement to me. The game didn't turn out how I wanted it to, but cutting out those ideas helped me be able to finish the game at least. I'm not a fan of jumpscares in horror games, but I was curious in how I would be able to implement them. I'll most likely not rely on them in the future as much as I did in this game. Hopefully I can get something out in time for Halloween!
