Small changes made to game + Devlog update

Not sure why it took me this long, but I finally decided to make some changes to the game. Nothing crazy, just little things that should make the game feel better to play. There's definitely a chance that these changes caused bugs so definitely let me know if you find anything . I'll list the changes down below but since I'm doing this little update, I'll also take this time to give a small update on what I've been up to lately.

- Changes Made -

  • Continuing dialogue text shows full sentence instead of displaying next sentence if current sentence isn't finished yet.
  • Door open colliders are now over entire door instead of doorknob.
  • Flashlight now has smooth movement
  • Adjusted lighting

- Gamedev Update -

I've basically fallen into the cliché trap of working on projects but never finishing them. That's always been the case, but this gap is definitely longer than I want it to be.  It all really comes down to, I just don't know what I really want to do. I've been experimenting with different ideas that are all based around the horror genre, but I always end up thinking it'll not turn out good and give up on it.  After multiple unfinished projects turning out that way, I'm at a point where I have to just create something, despite if it's actually good or not. So I plan on doing random game jams and hoping I can just start getting things out there. This means my next game will probably not be horror related at all. It bothers me because I purposely made public expectations that I'll make a better horror game for my next game, hoping that'll push me to do it. But I don't think that'll be the case this time. I definitely still plan on trying to make horror games, but I feel I'm just not inspired to do so right now.

Despite all that, I have learned a lot of new things that I can expand upon when I do make a new horror game. Some of the small changes I made to this game are because of what I learned in my unfinished projects, like the dialogue text and smooth flashlight movement. There's a lot more I learned that I hope to implement in a full game. But yeah, for now, expect a bunch of small random little games that are for game jams in the future. Maybe even little horror games if the game jam calls for it. At some point though I plan to make a full horror game that has more content in it. Until then, I hope you enjoy whatever I make next!

It's better to have completed 1000 imperfect games then spending your whole life trying to create one perfect one, because that will never happen. People will still love the imperfect games and get enjoyment from them even if there are flaws. Also, by the time you get to #1000, you'll be astounded by how much you've improved just by doing and finishing and releasing.

Don't pay much mind to those who heavily criticize, it'll always happen and often it's more a personal issue than one with you. Take what you need from complaints and pay most attention to those with opinions you respect (and even then...a grain of salt, they are different people with different experiences from you and you might have your own creative language.)

Just my dos centavos :)
